The Suffolk County Environmental Center is open to the public! New nature center opens its doors to the public with official ceremony and welcomes huge crowd to Eco-Carnival to celebrate.

Parks Commissioner John Pavacic and State Assemblywoman Ginny Fields officially cut the ribbon under a crisp blue sky on Earth Day to the applause of the more than 100 officials, conservationists and other VIPs that had gathered for the event.
Two days later, on April 24th, Seatuck hosted a public open house and Eco-Carnival to celebrate the opening. Several thousand people joined in the fun on another perfect spring day. They visited a series of nature stations, explored a jungle of tiger grass, walked the "Alewife Challenge" balance beam, marveled at fantastic face painters, listened to live storytellers and music, enjoyed food from the Taste of the South Shore food court and took tours of the historic mansion. It was a memorable, fun-filled day that left everyone with smiles on their faces.
The Environmental Center is now open to the public five days a week. The historic mansion houses exhibits, gift shop, and public restrooms. The 70-acre property, which contains diverse wetland and upland forest habitats, is open for longer hours on the same days for hiking, birding, etc. Check our current hours and come visit soon!
