By all accounts, the 2018 Bats & Brews Benefit was Seatuck's best yet! It was a beautiful fall night, the bat presentation was fantastic, the beer list was exceptional, the wine bar was excellent, the expanded food court was perfect and the band was awesome. We got a LOT of positive feedback this year! It takes a lot generous businesses and people to make 500 guests so happy, so a big THANK YOU to all the following:

The Speakers! - We're proud that Bats & Brews keeps to its roots and still features a bat presentaion - and we were thrilled that 125+ people packed into the lecture tent for this year's edition. Maria Brown (Stony Brook Univ & Sayville HS) and her daughter, Lexi Brown (Am. Musueum of Natural History), gave a passionate, informative and entertaining presentation about their "neotropical adventures" in pursuit of bat research.

The Brewers! Let's face it, we couldn't do it without them. They donate every drop and give generously of their time, year after year. We're honored that our regular participants keep coming back, many for more than 5 years now (Spider Bite, The Brewers Collective, Barrage, Blue Point, Brooklyn, Sixpoint etc, etc). And we were excited to add Barrier and Moustache to the roster this year! Please visit these awesome brewers and buy their beer - here's the full list:fullsizeoutput 5422

fullsizeoutput 5477The Food! In 2017 we tried to feed 400+ people in one room - it didn't go well. So our biggest change for 2018 was the addition of an outdoor food court featuring six different food vendors. It was a BIG improvement! Everyone raved about the ease of access and the quality of the food. We're glad it worked out - we'll definitely bring it back for next year. Again, please patronize the generous vendors that made it possible - they donated every last morsel to support Seatuck! In addition to those listed below, Catch Oyster Bar (Patchogue), Bubba's Burrito Bar (Islip) and Koi Kokoro (Islip) also donated food for the event:

The Wine! The wine bar was fully donated and staffed by Verace Restaurant in Islip. It's a very important part of the event (it turns out not everyone loves beer!).

fullsizeoutput 548bThe Band! The Decoys, who have played every Bats & Brews, were in prime form on Saturday night! They showed off their tremendous range and diverse musical tastes throughout the event (segueing, e.g., from the Violent Femmes to Tom Petty and Old Crow Medicine Show to Mumford & Sons!) and had the crowd dancing and begging for more by night's end!

The Sponsors! We are grateful for the generous support of our event sponsors:

The Attendees! Finally, we are grateful for everyone who joined us for a fantastic evening. We appreciate your support! And we're sorry for the many people who remained on our waiting list - we're trying to figure out how to accommodate more people next year!
